Unraveling

The influences of history and mentors and artists, all unraveling...as we discover ourselves. I studied chinese brush painting from when I was 12- my first influence and the bottom layer of this painting. At California college of art I studied woodcut printing- thus the waters of reflection I'm immersed in...And Frida Kahlo as well as Dorothea Tanning bring the self portrait and the wild braids and wooden heart. But nature is my muse, and it was nature that inspired this painting- the fallen down and sun bleached tree that looked like a heart, silent in the woods. What are the inspirations and journeys in your life that have made you who you are?
