Due to her unusual background, Sharon Eisley's paintings
meld a unique mix of mediums and cultural influences. After spending ten years
working primarily in watercolor, Sharon moved to Taiwan to study Chinese Brush
painting. She lived in Taipei for three years, studying under Chen Mu Yu.
When the pollution in Taipei became too much to bear she returned to California
and to art school. She graduated from the California College of Arts and Crafts
(now CCA) in May, 2001. While at CCAC Sharon fell in love with oil paint in
all its color and buttery goodness as well as the juxtaposing hard edges of
wood cut prints. Not prone to compromise she devised ways to incorporate these
myriad mediums. For the past three years her works involve cutting into the
wood, painting and cutting again, creating a unique depth to her paintings.
